Classic, ‘olde worlde’ charm abounds in this timber-framed pub with parts dating from the 15th century. Massive inglenook fireplace in one bar.

Re-opened after a short closure and now trading as a Free House under new landlords. Also offering good food at reasonable prices.

The Peacock was where what became ‘Jazz at the (Boxford) Fleece’ first started, back in the 1970s.

Currently have plans to convert an old outbuilding to provide extra Bed & Breakfast accommodation

The Peacock Inn at Chelsworth, a beautiful 14th century half-timbered inn, has re-opened by William and Rachael Cripps. Now trading as a free house and offering a selection of local ales from, amongst others, Mauldons, Greene King and Adnams. Their experienced chef has already built a reputation by designing his menu that changes every month producing excellent quality food at reasonable prices. The new wine list has been designed to suit all tastes.

Will and Rachael, along with their ex-racing greyhounds Clarice and Susie, very much look forward to welcoming you to The Peacock Inn at Chelsworth.

Opening Hours

The Peacock Inn at Chelsworth is open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday inclusive. We are closed on Mondays.

Tuesday - Saturday:

  • 12 noon to 3pm (last food orders 2pm)
  • 6pm to 11pm (last food orders 9pm)

Sunday:

  • 12 noon to 6pm (last food orders 3pm)

Bed & Breakfast

Four comfortable bedrooms are available. All the rooms have an elegant country feel with plenty of exposed beams and 14th century character. With country views and being ideally situated in the beautiful hamlet of Chelsworth, the Peacock is a perfect base for touring Suffolk.

Dining

All of the food used at The Peacock Inn at Chelsworth is locally sourced and homemade using fresh produce. All our meat is supplied by our local butcher in Long Melford.

We offer a varied and constantly changing specials menu.

We now offer Fish & Chips to take away for £6.25.

Try our seasonal game menu, supplied by from Six Churches Shoot, Lavenham.
